About Us

Mountain Lake Bison Range is a family run buffalo ranch located in Grey County, Ontario (Canada). The Mountain family has owned this property since 1952. In 1984 we switched from mixed farming to buffalo ranching. Since then, we have established many long-term trust relationships with our customers. We encourage all customers to visit and get to know us.
Besides selling our meat at the 'farm gate', we also supply some of the best inns and restaurants in Ontario.

When you buy meat from us, you not only purchase a safe, wholesome product, but your dollar also supports the conservation of the buffalo, and helps maintain the grasslands of Grey County, which contribute favorably to the environment, just like forested areas do.

At Mountain Lake Bison Range, we enjoy raising a natural product, wholesome right from pasture to plate. As a result, we have produced the following 11-point list of Quality Assurances:

• we do not feed animal products to our buffalo
• we do not feed any GMO's
• we do not use herbicides
• we do not use pesticides
• we do not use artificial (commercial) fertilizer
• we do not vaccinate our buffalo
• we do not implant our buffalo with growth hormones
• we do not finish our animals in a feedlot
• we do not crossbreed our buffalo
• we DO provide spacious pastures and fresh water, with salt and mineral free choice
• we DO have all meat government inspected

Throughout history, the name "buffalo" has been so ingrained that we still like to use it, although scientifically the correct name for this North American animal is "bison".
